- February Favourite
One thing I realized right after reading the book was everyone has their own story to tell, but when you look at it closely, it eventually is my own story. I feel like we all want to live more special life than others, which is natural and totally understandable, but one thing to keep in mind is that the day you live in is unique and valuable in its own way. That’s exactly what I felt when I read the whole book. Short story, written by 김금희, consists 19 realistic fictions you may easily find in daily life. Whether you’ve experienced it or not, those stories have the power to draw the readers into the certain situations and make them think ‘What would you do?’ Personally, I found ‘규카츠를 먹을래’ familiar, as the story tackles how 3 close friends handles quarrel that happened during traveling. Me and my two close friends went for a short vacation trip in summer last year and everything was good until the way back to hotel. The sun was blazing, none of us had any ice water, and we were starving from 2 hours of swimming. I remember we barely made a conversation for the whole 20 minutes of walk. There weren’t any conflicts or problems; I guess we were just tired of spending the day under the sunlight and needed some own space. When we got to the hotel, all we did was lay in bed, waiting for someone to start the talk. We had a pretty big dinner anyhow, enjoying the rest of our day gossiping till the morning, as if the 20-minute-of-no-talking never happened. When you only expect the good from every single thing you face, it’s almost impossible to be satisfied with results. That means it’s fine you have messed up the whole day; you could look back and brush it off. I know it’s not the right message this book tries to tell but it is one of the thoughts that deeply remained in my mind. I highly recommend the book of this month and I’m sure it’ll be worth spending time on.
