Recently, there are many places that are named after “Garosu-gil”. “Sharosu-gil or “Songridan-gil” can be good examples. People used to visit “Garosu-gil” for various cafes that have their genuine outlooks and cuisines. That was the reason why “Garosu-gil” was famous. However, it seems to be hard to find those unique shops in “Garosu-gil”. On the contrary, franchises shops are easily found on the place where dinings and cafes used to be. Furthermore those shops are moving to other regions like “Mangwon-dong”. That is because of the gentrification. Gentrification is the social phenomenon which is a process of changing the character of a neighborhood through the influx of more affluent residents and businesses. Many shops that are looking for law rental fee came to certain area. In this case, “Sinsa-dong” is the place where has the relatively law rental fee and many enterprisers gathered to this places. For those various shops, “Garosu-gil” became famous and famous. So, the demand for the building rental gets higher which triggers the elevation of the rental fee. Unfortunately, the enterprisers in “Garosu-gil” can’t stand for heavy rental payments and leave the place. However, the franchise that can afford the high rental fee wants to locate their shops in famous places like “Garosu-gil”. As a result, the place is lost their characteristic and filled with franchises. In order to prevent those situations, the local government should support those small enterprisers from high rental fees and the building owners should aim for the further goal.
